OS Children’s Villages has been supporting children and young people without parental care, or at risk of losing it in The Gambia since 1982. The organization provides alternative care services which includes a children's village, supervised independent living arrangements and small group homes for young people. The organization also provides medical and educational services from kindergarten, lower and upper basic school, high school and vocational training. In recent years SOS Children's Villages in The Gambia has been implementing family strengthening projects in local communities to address the root causes of child family separation such as abuse, neglect, inadequate nutrition, lack of access to education and training opportunities as well as exposure to environmental risks and hazards such as climate change.
